First, the cute:
At dinner on Saturday night, Ethan said prayers. It went something like this, “Thank you for Mommy, Daddy, Lara, Jesus, Timothy, Baby Charlotte, their mommy and daddy, Ms Joyce and Mr Dave. Amen”. Totally melts your heart to hear his prayers.
Ethan today at church made sure to watch over Lara. When they got there, he got her settled, helped her get her jacket off and then held her hand while they sat there. When she got up and tried to walk out of the row, he looked at her and whispered, “That’s a no-no, Lara. Come back”.
Lara today, while sitting with Bryan watching him play his computer game exclaims, “Oh My Gosh!” Then, we later hear, “Oh Golly”. Where does she get this!?
Lara saw me come downstairs this morning and goes, “Where’s my Jamie? Where’d she go?” Now, please understand that Jamie was here last Sunday, so I don’t know if she thinks that every Sunday Jamie is going to be here or what. I explained that she just came to visit and had to go home. She then asked if we could go to the airport to get Jamie. So cute!
Now, the not-so-cute:
Tonight, Ethan’s room has turned to a place only for sleep. He used to have some toys to play with, etc. Not anymore. After Bryan had asked him 2 times to clean it up, I went upstairs a bit later to find him just sitting there playing. SO, I marched him downstairs, then proceeded to take every single toy out of his room. He cried as he watch me take them to the garage. I explained that toys are a privilege and until he learns to clean up, he will have no more toys in his room. He then went downstairs, and Bryan told him to help clean up downstairs. He then turned and peed in his pants. Before, he had been put in time-out for kind of “play biting” at Lara. He peed in his pants then as well. Now, he has to earn back all of his beloved pirate toys, he’s watched none of his t.v. shows in about 4 days (Bryan did let them watch a Mickey Mouse last night after baths once they cleaned their rooms) since it seems when he’s playing with these toys or watching a show he gets too busy to remember to go to the bathroom. These are definitely trying times with potty-training and him not listening…he’s a sweet kid, but there are just times

And, don’t think Lara is innocent in all of this…she’s doing better the past few days, but she’s also a strong-willed one when it comes to cleaning up. Gotta love it!
